Paralegals are a critical part of DLA Piper’s client service teams, working side by side with lawyers, co-counsel and clients on an array of substantive client matters. The majority of our paralegals are career professionals. They work independently and on teams, locally, nationally and globally.

This position is located in the Washington, DC office. Your hours will be Monday – Friday 9 am – 5:30 PM

Minimum Requirements:

  • College degree and/or Paralegal certificate

  • 3 years’ experience in a law firm setting supporting a Corporate/Project Finance practice group

  • Experience preparing and filing a variety of corporate legal documents (Articles of Incorporation/Organization, Amendments, state qualifications, consents, merger documents, closing books, electronic closing sets, initial drafts or certificates, short-form closing deliverables, and filing annual reports)

  • Experience managing data rooms and matter files on document management systems

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated

Preferred Requirements:

  • Legal software

  • Large firm experience

What will your day look like?

Your day will be spent performing a range of substantive case, matter or entity related duties by supporting efforts between attorneys, clients, outside legal counsel, opposing legal counsel, other parties, and outside vendors.

Some of the work you will be responsible for includes preparing and filing legal UCC Financing Statements, Articles of Incorporation/Organization, annual reports, managing data rooms and matter files, coordinating execution and delivery of documentation to other parties’ counsel, lenders, governmental agencies, etc., including all closing documentation. You will also develop, monitor and update closing and other checklists.
