Solis Mammography Medical Assistant/Medical Receptionist PRN in Washington, District Of Columbia

Job Descriptions:

The Medical Assistant/Medical Receptionist, under the supervision of the Lead Medical Assistant, Assistant Manager or Manager, performs clerical and reception functions as directed. This is a non-exempt hourly position.

  • Greet patients and visitors to the office in a polite and courteous manner;
  • Provide patients with relevant information pertaining to the procedure which they will undergo;
  • Answer telephones, schedule patients, take messages and fax documents as needed;
  • Utilize the computer system to ensure proper patient information is collected and accurately reported; explain charges, secure necessary signatures and consents, collect payments and properly forward and distribute forms; assist patients, when necessary, with completion of patient information forms;
  • Perform filing of records and other documents, make copies of records, send films and reports to appropriate destinations, manage patient records and purge records as directed;
  • Actively participate in the quality assurance monitoring and recording efforts of the office;
  • Must be thoroughly familiar with the operation of the clerical and reception areas of the office;
  • Must be knowledgeable about, understand and comply with the policies and procedures of the Corporation;
  • Communicate payment problems to appropriate Supervisor/Manager and Business Office in a timely manner;
  • Document incoming and outgoing examinations related to contracted facilities. Follow protocol for notifying contracted facilities of abnormal mammography results;
  • Promote team approach and a positive image of WRA to everyone with whom contact is made through exceptional customer service;
  • Escort patients to appropriate area (dressing room, exam room, reading room, etc.). Prepare patients for their exam. Clean and restock exam rooms as necessary;
  • Perform image processing duties;
  • Assist the physician and/or technologist when requested (i.e. during exam, contact referring physician, escorting visitors, etc.);
  • Unpack and store incoming supplies;
  • Must maintain confidentiality of all patient information and Corporate business;
  • Communicate courteously with coworkers and handle interpersonal problem situations discretely and through the proper chain of command;
  • Prepare daily feeslip and receipt documentation for processing at the Business Office;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Experience:
  • Graduation from high school or equivalent required;
  • Should be able to type at least 40 words per minute with minimal errors;
  • Should have a basic understanding of medical terminology.
