This position is with the Justice Management Division, Facilities and Administrative Services Staff (FASS), Office of Services in Real Property Management Services (RPMS). RPMS has responsibility for the Department of Justice's (DOJ) real property asset management programs. Assets include land, building, and other structures which are permanent federally-owned acquisitions or those that are temporary in nature; e.g., General Services Administration assignment, leases, licenses, easements, and permits.
Manage mechanical engineering projects from the design phase through completion of construction/renovation.
Analyze mechanical system design calculations/procedure.
Coordinates projects in unexplored areas where there is little or no theory so new techniques and approaches are needed.
Initiates corrective action to resolve deficiencies in the contractor's work.

- Degree: professional engineering. To be acceptable, the curriculum must: (1) be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.

To qualify for the GS-12: you must possess at least one of the following:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: I have one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 in the Federal service to include "similar tasks" such as: (1) Experience in developing engineering analysis standards for projects or systems. (2) Experience in applying mechanical engineering concepts; principles and procedures concerning with design and construction management. (3) Assist with making decisions or recommendations significantly changing, interpreting engineering programs.
To qualify for the GS-13: you must possess at least one of the following:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: I have one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 in the Federal service to include "similar tasks" such as: (1) Provides decisions or recommendations significantly changing, interpreting engineering programs. (2) Provides guidance to management for strategic planning and programs development. (3) Consulting with management on a broad range of issues of engineering and construction management.
