POSITION DESCRIPTION Barbaricum is seeking an Accounting Intern to perform the responsibilities related to Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and other accounting functions. The position is based at the Company’s headquarters in Washington, DC. Duties and responsibilities include supporting the following functions:

  • Client billing cycle to include: customer and project setup, invoice preparation, approval and submission
  • Maintain contract master file and invoicing set up in Deltek GCS
  • Work with Controller to analyze contract terms and modifications to ensure invoices are submitted per the contract requirements
  • Monitor submitted invoices for timely collections
  • Perform reconciliations to ensure complete collection of all billable items
  • Calculate GSA IFF monthly to be filed quarterly
  • Assist with reviewing and processing the following Accounts Payable items for data entry and payment:
  • Check requests
  • Employee expense reports
  • Vendor, subcontractor and consultant invoices
  • Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices
  • Assist with other projects as needed


  • College courses in accounting preferred
  • Strong work ethic

  • Proficient in Excel and Word, 10-key by touch
  • Basic accounting principles knowledge
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to interact with employees and vendors in a professional manner
  • Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness
