  • This position will be part of a Technology team building the next generation Claim Management System at Asurion. This position is best fit by a developer that is a Technologist at heart with a focus on delivering innovative technical solutions to our customers while collaborating across technology teams to do so. This person will be working primarily within the Pega platform but will also be exposed to Java, Oracle, and nodeJS.

The Software Engineer 3 is a functional expert in the field of software engineering as it relates to the business objectives of Asurion. The Software Engineer 3 will design, code, test, and debug applications that meet system standards and functional requirements primarily using Pega. The Software Engineer 3 will maintain expertise of the functional software engineering processes used by Asurion. This position works with a team of developers to evaluate and implement technology solutions that meet business objectives.


o Design, Develop, Architect applications using Pega PRPC 7.X, J2EE and Oracle Technologies.

o A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

o Follows established coding standards and techniques, assists with establishing standards

o Develops automated unit test cases to validate defect-free code

o Works with BAs and Integration Testing team to ensure quality code that meets the functional requirements

o Works with and leads on shore and off shore development teams. Acts as a technical resource for junior team members

o Works with development leads in other groups to coordinate integration and ensure systems developed align with the Enterprise architecture.

o Assists the Manager and Sr. Manager with the training and mentoring of the team members

o Partners with business teams, development, and IT support to drive creation of processes and procedures

o Maintains a working knowledge of Asurion's applications and system integration and is able to understand changes in order to anticipate cross-system or cross-process impacts

o Coordinates and supports after hours, ad-hoc, and emergency tasks as required by the department's scope and deliverable timelines

o Ensures the Sr. Manager is informed of schedules and timelines, statuses, issues, mitigations and all other information necessary or requested

o Provides proper status notifications are relayed to business stakeholders and Client Relations for internal and external communications

o Effectively communicates the feasibility of requested deliverables and timelines to the Manager and/or Sr. Manager

o Utilizes design patterns that comply with security policies and guidelines

Qualifications: Education, Experience and Skills

o BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a related field required

o 3 or more years of software development experience required

o 2 or more years of development experience with Pega including PRPC 6.x/7.x

o Proficient in Agile methodologies and working within scrum teams

o Skill in diagnosing and solving complex problems and providing detailed technical analysis

o Specific knowledge/experience in most of the following preferred:

  • 2 or more years of experience in a team leadership role

  • Experience with PRPC 7.1, working knowledge of Pega CPM Framework

  • PRPC Certification

  • Exposure to insurance, warranty, claims, service and repair environments.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Proficient understanding of SDLC process desired

  • Skill in diagnosing and solving complex problems and providing detailed technical analysis

  • Detailed Knowledge of PRPC design and implementation topics including :- Rules, Class Design, Security, Flows, Adapters, Services and Connectors

  • Good Knowledge of CPM 6.x

  • Excellent hands on experience in Java, SQL, PL/SQL.

  • Solid experience with objected oriented programming, REST and SOAP Web Services Implementation
