Job Description:

We are looking for a highly-motivated cybersecurity engineer specializing in endpoint security, vulnerability management, or incident response to defend Children’s information and infrastructure.

As a Senior System Security Engineer, you will be dedicated to making our products and technologies as secure as possible – design through development. Your will report to the Information Security Operations Manager, but work closer with all teams across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • As a Senior System Security Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Take a leading role in helping us build a robust and effective cybersecurity program

  • Maintain and implement endpoint security solutions and infrastructure delivering high availability and performance

  • Work with system/network administrators and other associates to ensure secure design, development, and implementation of applications and networks

  • Perform and analyze security and vulnerability assessments, evaluate processes, network designs or access controls

  • Monitor, analyze, respond, and report information security incidents

  • Lead deployment activities related to new solutions/technologies

  • Perform routine maintenance activities

  • Assess new software releases and patches, assist with development of test plans, and develop implementation procedures and guidelines

  • Provide remediation guidance and recommendations to programmers and administrators

  • Work to align the IT Disaster Recovery Plan to business requirements and lead in transforming it to ensure our always-on environment is secure and agile

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree required or equivalent experience

  • 3+ years of experience

Expectations

  • Previous hands-on experience with McAfee endpoint and server products is a plus (ePO, VSE, HIPS, TIE, DXL, ATD, DLP, DE, DEGO, AR, Deep Command, MGW, MOVE, DAM)

  • Information security certifications are a plus (CISSP, CCSLP, CISM, CISA, CEH, SANS)

  • Familiarity with common vulnerabilities and attack vectors

  • Excellent understanding of secure network and system design

  • Experience as a consultant at a highly technical information security consultancy desired

  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups and difficult customers, within a diverse team environment

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and on multiple projects simultaneously

  • Ability to provide after hours on-call support and provide coverage at off-site locations

  • Must be able to travel up to 10%

  • Must reside in or be willing to relocate to the greater Washington, D.C. area
