Position Overview:

Financial Engineering develops software for financial modeling and research. The software is used internally at Freddie Mac by all lines of business. The group partners with statisticians, economists and data scientists to develop and deliver production solutions.

We are looking for a summer intern to assist with the development of our software. The candidate will:

  • Assist with adding new features to our software

  • Work with modern data technologies such as Python, R and Spark

  • Learn about the software engineering side of financial modeling and analytics

  • Learn about the secondary mortgage market

Qualifications:

  • Rising Senior/Junior pursuing a BS in Computer Science or equivalent

  • Interest in Finance

  • Solid understanding of Computer Science fundamentals

  • Understanding of software engineering principles

    • Familiarity with linear algebra, regression analysis and machine learning techniques

Bonus:

  • Knowledge of Python and/or R

  • Exposure to scientific computing libraries such as pandas, NumPy, SciPy, data.table and dplyr

  • Familiarity with linear algebra, regression analysis and machine learning techniques
