Job Summary

Prepares man-hour and material cost estimates for the performance of operations, maintenance, installations and repairs to major and minor office renovation projects for commercial office buildings requiring the participation of single or multiple trades.

  • Estimate man-hours—converting them to a cost estimate

  • Accomplish material take offs—converting them to a cost estimate

  • Interface with customers, project managers, designers, engineers, etc.

Minimum Requirements

  • Five years of Journeyman Electrician trade experience required with a general knowledge, skill and ability to accomplish cost estimates for other trades, such as carpentry and electrical.

  • General knowledge and use of computer based programs such as Maximo, RS Means/Sage-Timberline, MS Binder, MS Excel, MS Word and Lotus Notes

  • Must be able to read and write the English language

  • Must be proficient in typing and writing – sentences typed and/or written legibly.

  • Must be able to read and decipher blue prints/drawings

  • Must be detail oriented with good organizational and people/customer skills

  • Must be able to meet light physical demands (e.g., carrying and using a ladder, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ten years of Journeyman Electrician trade experience preferred with a general knowledge, skill and ability to accomplish cost estimates for other trades, such as carpentry and mechanical.

  • Experience, knowledge and use of the RS Means/Sage-Timberline computer based program

  • Knowledge of structural, electrical and/or mechanical planning and design work

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree and/or a Master’s license or certification equivalent
