Technical Writer will be supporting a mission critical, government-wide cybersecurity program, including developing and editing documentation related with security assessments of federal information systems. This program supports a Specialized Information Assurance and System Security Engineering program in support of our National Security client.
In this position, you will a be supporting a team of analysts, engineers and other security professionals who contribute to the development, implementation, and assessment of defensive measures and associated systems that protect the .GOV and .COM critical infrastructure communities.
The client’s mission is to execute the information security officer’s responsibilities for securing the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data through people, processes, and technology. InfoReliance is the Prime for this contract and provides the client with cyber security oversight, risk management assessment and authorization services.
The scope of the position includes being the technical writer and editor of technical and programmatic documentation. You will work directly with a team of security engineers and analysts who conduct security assessments and testing to validate security controls identified by the government and Security Requirements Traceability Matrix (SRTM) and Security Retirements Guide (SRG) developed under this contract. Systems are assessed to insure compliance and reduce vulnerabilities. The technical writer assists with the creation of a number of technical reports and documents such a Security Assessment Reports (SAR), Risk Assessment Reports (RAR), Rules of Engagements (ROE). As the technical Writer for the program, you will develop standards for documentation to include templates with proper headers and footer, assist in the development of change management and revision control leading practices. Follow and implement Classification markings and portion markings on classified documentation. Programmatic documents includes creating and editing MS Word and Excel as well as editing and developing impactful Power Point presentations.
In this role, you will use your technical, organizational and writing skills to meet the customers mission and ensure the success of this key program for InfoReliance
We are seeking an accomplished, creative and self-motivated individual who enjoys working with program management and technical personnel to produce a variety of technical and program documents ranging from Unclassified up to Top Secrete SCI.
Establish the look to include fonts, headers, footers, content formatting of all program documentation to include standards and templates
Editing includes formatting, punctuation quality reviews
Work directly with the technical team to take technical data and incorporate it into a report/document in a way to present the information in a concise manager without changing the meaning the information provided. This often requires the writer to interview the Engineers, Assessors or Analysts to obtain the information and intended message.
You will be working within a secure facility.
Your ability to develop and maintain credibility and trust with your team will be critical to your success.
Work collaboratively with technical experts to gain knowledge
Translate complex concepts and solutions into multiple types of documents (requirements, compliance, SOPs, test results, etc.)
Combine disparate materials into documents that flow logically and speak with one voice
Work with contributors to resolve content issues or gaps
Maintain version control for documentation
You will be part of the growing team of cyber security professionals in the delivery of services. The Technical Writer will support the Program Manager in activities that include:
Documentation support to a team consisting of InfoReliance employees, subcontractor staff, responsible for all aspects of Task delivery.
You will develop, cultivate relationships with the client and InfoReliance program team
Delivering tasking on time as scheduled.
Participate in meetings and reviews to keep informed and be prepared for writing tasks/deliverables from persons or groups within and outside of the program team.
Assist in development documentation methodology and procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
With technical team support, develop, RAR, SAR, POA&M reporting
Generate meeting minutes and action items from Technical Exchange Meetings with the government PMO and service providers.
Edit and enhance contractual deliverables such as Program Management Plans (PMP), Monthly Status Reports (MSR) and Test Plans.
Provide status updates to Project Manager for the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS)
Conducting meetings, tracking issues, decisions, action items, and following-up between meetings to drive issues to closure.
Travel by air may be required throughout the United States, CONUS. Frequency is approximately 2 weeks per year.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities include:
Apply federal and organizational directives.
Support federal information system documentation to include:
System Security Plan (SSP)
Security Concept of Operations (SECONOPs),
System Security Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) documents for performing assessments/security activities.
System configurations for devices and software performing security-relevant functions
Vulnerability and penetration test results
Security incident reports
System security performance metrics
Review system security and programatic documentation, recommend improvements
Participate in the development or program related documentation
Support the review and editing of all documentation prior to delivery to client.

In order to be successful in this job, we expect you to have the following skills and experience:
5+ years’ experience in relate work
Superior interpersonal, communication, presentation, and writing skills.
Expertise working directly with executive and senior-level clients
Proven ability to effectively manage multiple work streams, competing requirements and multiple schedules and to facilitate coordination and reconciliation between different stakeholders with the aim of delivering a comprehensive solution that meets and exceeds expectations
Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent work experience
Experience with NIST 800-53 and CNSSI 1253 security controls, assessment, compliance audits is highly desirable
Minimum 5 years of Microsoft Windows and Office experience.
Strong desktop publishing skills utilizing Microsoft Word
Experience with industry writing style such as grammar, sentence form, and structure.
Strong initiative, detail oriented, organizational skills, aptitude for analytical thinking
Ability to multi-task in a deadline oriented environment
Demonstrated ability to work well independently and as a part of a team
Excellent work ethic and a high commitment to quality
Additionally this position requires the following:
Final Top Secret clearance with eligibility for SCI access is required to support the contract
Must successfully complete the government’s security process
