Virginia State Government Workforce Services Technician- Alexandria in Alexandria, Virginia
Provide workforce services to employers and job seekers related to the administration of the Wagner-Peyser and Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Acts (WIOA). Work with employers to maintain strong working relationships; prepare, review and process complete and accurate job orders in the Virginia Workforce Connection (VWC); complete matching process to identify and/or refer potential job applicants. Effectively market and provide information on Virginia Employment Commission (VEC) services, including use of labor exchange services and labor market information. Work with jobseekers to find suitable employment; conduct interviews to evaluate workforce needs; use information to determine training and/or other needs; match skill set to potential job opportunities; and make reasonable and appropriate referrals. Provide information on agency and/or supportive services. Attend job fairs, schedule interviews, and screen applications as needed. This recruitment will be used to fill 3 positions.
Working knowledge of employment interviewing techniques, employment and wage laws and guidelines, and office operations and etiquette. Strong customer service, oral and written communication skills. Skill in the use of Microsoft Office Professional or similar software. Ability to interact effectively with employers and the public; discuss, interpret and apply agency standards and procedures; conduct interviews and research; and evaluate skill sets and needs. Ability to use web-based applications to enter data and conduct database searches. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and workload. High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience in human resources, community services, workforce services or training programs. Ability to speak Spanish.
The successful candidate must pass a credit check and criminal conviction investigation.
